Golf Fitness

If you’re looking to play more consistent, shoot lower scores and gain distance you’ve come to the right place. Since the late 1990s, the game of golf has seen a seismic shift in how players at the highest level prepare, train and maintain their bodies for competition. Regardless of age our program is beneficial to all. Younger players benefit by developing optimal movement patterns that enhance the body’s ability to generate speed while older players benefit by improving joint mobility and stability which allows them to play effortlessly and pain free. Our players are more powerful, more athletic and better equipped to perform. We strive to give our players the ability to play the game of golf at their highest level for many years to come.

The Titleist Performance Institute discovered how a properly functioning body allows a player to swing a golf club in the most efficient way possible. Additionally, TPI has analyzed how physical limitations in a player’s body can adversely affect the golf swing and potentially lead to injury. TPI does not believe in one way to swing a club, rather in an infinite number of swing styles. But, we do believe there is one efficient way for every player to swing and it is based on what the player can physically do. The most efficient swing is not the same for every golfer, because efficiency is unique to their body. To achieve an efficient swing, a golfer must first be screened. This screen involves an assessment of swing mechanics, biomechanics, physical fitness, movement quality and current health history. Once this screen is finished, the results are used to create a plan unique for that golfer. The plan may include functional mobility and stability training, education and application of swing mechanics/biomechanics, on and off course nutrition, recovery and mental strategy or all of the above.

A golfer will see the greatest improvement by surrounding themselves with a team of experts. This is why we work together with a golf professional to maximize the benefit of a healthy and efficient body. The game has reached a point where its participants do not need convincing that better fitness, biomechanics and health will improve their chances of playing their best. The game presents unique challenges to the body. Golf is a sport that combines an intermittent high-intensity and high skill activity with a history largely void of understanding the benefits of fitness.

Golf Fitness is not about looking like a bodybuilder and moving heavy weight. It’s about being fit to play the game relative to the level in which an individual’s desires to play at. In addition, being fit for golf also means playing the game free from pain, discomfort or stiffness during and following participation. It’s about understanding how a body’s limitations can influence the golf swing and how to address those limitations through the proper channels; whether it’s through swing and movement instruction, physical rehabilitation or strength and conditioning exercise. It’s about understanding the latest science and technology and how it can be implemented to optimize performance.
